In addition to the unparalleled natural beauty surrounding our assisted living home, the Estates’ advantages are many and varied. Beginning with the number of administrators on staff and, more importantly, the number of hours an administrator is on site. An administrator differs significantly from staff in multiple areas from communication skills to education. While staff can literally be employed with no education or training, Administrators are required to complete 40 hours of in class training on all aspects of the proper care of the elderly. Additionally, administrators must complete 12 hours of state conducted training, pass specific classes in medication assistance and first aid, pass a state exam and complete 40 hours of continuing education every two years.

State licensing regulations require that each facility have one licensed Administrator on staff, however, no minimum number of on site hours are specified. The Health and Safety Code requires administrators to be present during working hours, leaving possibly sixteen or more hours per day with staff only. Additionally, the code permits the administrators to be “…temporarily absent from the facility.” It is important to inquire from any facility under consideration, how many hours the administrator is on site, both daily and weekly, to make those split second critical decisions so important to you or your loved one. The Estate has two full time Administrators that live on site. Although one may be away grocery shopping or with a resident at a doctor’s appointment, at least one Administrator is on site 24/7.

Prior to admission of a resident, the Estate Administrator will conduct a personal assessment interview, review the physician report, and develop a written pre-admission assessment. As part of the continuous care and supervision pledge, the administrator will notify the residents’ family, physician and responsible person of any changes in physical, mental, emotional or social functioning requiring a change in the residents’ needs and care.

We cater to each resident’s unique and individual needs and preferences, and provide planned motivational activities designed for the residents physical and mental abilities. Meaningful and stimulating activities available include exercise, music, art, online computer training – including Skype video visits with family – discussion of current events, bird watching, games, puzzles, sewing, crafts, pet visits, cable TV and movie nights tailored to residents’ preferences.

The Estate prepares three nutritious home cooked meals and between meal snacks daily, and whenever possible, the staff will prepare dishes that appeal to the resident’s preferences. Additionally, in the case of health concerns, meals will be prepared as prescribed by a doctor's written orders.

The Estate Advantage can be summed up in one word – unique. There are few assisted living facilities that combine the beauty of nature with the creative architecture to appreciate it. Combine these features with a husband and wife administrator team, ready to provide trained, experienced and loving care for you or your loved one, and you have a “Unique Assisted Living Experience”.
